The Kelman Network for Peacebuilding is an international network of leading peace and conflict researchers, in which the University of Graz is an international partner. Coordinated by the Herbert C. Kelman Institute for Interactive Conflict Transformation in Vienna and Jerusalem, the network holds an annual gathering at Harvard University.
The network is named after Herbert C. Kelman, who served for many years as Clarke Cabot Professor of Social Ethics at Harvard University and as Director of the Program on International Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Harvard’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. For many years, he has played a significant role in mediation efforts related to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
In cooperation with the Kelman Institute, the University of Graz conducts research projects and offers joint courses. The Institute focuses on addressing national and international conflicts while further developing Interactive Conflict Transformation—particularly in the Alps–Adriatic region and in Israel–Palestine.
